Question by becca: For my new MacBook: Microsoft Office vs iWork?
I’m looking for a word processor for my new MacBook. I can’t decide between Office and iWork 2008. I had iWork trial for 30 days and I liked it- it had a Pages (aka Word), Numbers (exel), and Keynote (Powerpoint). iWork is also cheaper on price and has some pretty cool features. The only thing I am worried about is compatibility. What would you suggest and why?

Depends iwork is for macs and microsoft office mac is meant for macs but mainly windows(for noormal office). Depends what you need if you find iwork better try it but if you like microsoft office better get that depends really.

Mac vs. PC Which to get? 10 points, I promise

This regards laptops.

I’m leaning toward the macbook pro but I have a few questions. Does the macbook come with a good word processor application and something like powerpoint or do you have to buy iWork separate? Should I get Microsoft Office instead to run on the mac? This is important b/c I’m going into college and I’ll obviously be writing papers and making presentations probably. Also I’ve heard something like you can’t run Adobe Acrobat on a Mac. Is this true? I also heard though that now Adobe can run on the mac.
I like the os on the mac a lot better. It is more my details that I have questions about.
money isn’t an issue. its being payed with scholarship money. any more info on this bootcamp program for the mac would be nice
is the pages and keynote apps in iWork comparable and as good as word and powerpoint?
what about getting neooffice or openoffice

Apple iwork vs. Mac Office?

Seeing as the apple iwork collection is on the market for £55, and the Microsoft office version for mac is worth over £300(!!), is there a significant difference between the two, or is it just that Microsoft are over pricing their software (again) for Mac users? And also if anyone has either of the two for Mac, what do they think? Thanks :)

Iwork vs MS Office?? Which is better for Macbook?

I just got a Macbook and I still need word and things like that. I am not sure what Iwork is so that is one of my questions. What is Iwork? Is it like Microsoft Office? Which one is better for mac? And I heard this new thing called snow leopard. What is that?? Please help me find out what I need and don’t need to put on my mac. Thanks!

iWork vs Office 2008?

Pretty much want a good office suite for my new mac book running on tiger. (hopefully to upgrade)
should I get Microsoft Office 2008?
or iWork 2008?
or even Office 2004?

Office 2008 being faster than 04 on the intel system? but excel being slower?

I need to be able to email the files to my boss who would open them in excel or word. i just want it to be easy for me and for him. whats best?

I know this was a concern!! –> (what to do) Microsort office 2008 Mac version compatible with Microsoft office Windows earlier than the 2007 version? What about iWork 2008 and earlier than 2007 versions of Office on a PC?

What is this open office Im hearing about?

If I had iWork but saved the file as a .doc to open in Word. Will it change anything about my file if I wanted to reopen it on my mac.

does there become limiations when I am making a file in iWork knowing I will likey need the file to be opened later in Windows Microsoft office?

Its a big price difference, so tough choice.
Its not just about the price, sorry. I want a good program. Im very happy with my Mac and Apple hasnt let me down yet. Just comparing the two programs. Thank you!!
