Laptop with the highest gaming capabilities but also good for college work. See, I am starting college pretty soon at a university and they recommend laptops vs. a monitor. I really would like an HP and one that can run World of Warcraft, Sims 3 and the Microsoft Office programs without having any problems while still at a reasonable price.

July 7th, 2010
admin [list by tiko]
Why is Mac better than PC:
1. Macs dont get as many viruses
2. Macs have better graphics
3. Macs run Windows and Mac OS X Leopard so its like a two in one computer
4. Macs run Microsoft Office
5. Macs are dummy proof so if u do something stupid it wont completely mess up
6.Macs are power savers and enviromentelly friendly
7. All macs come with built in cameras
8.Macs don’t crash as often as PC’s
9. Every time u buy a computer u get a new one every two years. but with Macs they work well no matter how old and if u want to urgrade Mac OS X to a newer version is easier than PC.
10.And if your a gamer then all u have to do is get bootcamp to run Windows but if u do that then have the apple store do it for u
11.Macs are more reliable
12. Snow Leopard is comming out which is going to be easier and faster than before
13. Macs have magnetic plug so if u trip over the cable the computer does not fall
14. The Macbook Air is the lightest and thinnest Laptop ou there
15. Most PC’s need more fixing than apple computers
16. If u take your old PC to Apple the’ll transfer your files
17. Macs are much faster than PC’s
18. Vista sucks
I am looking for things to add to this list, especially with the upcoming Windows 7…
Nice list Hessian.
But it applies to gamers…
+ Im looking for things to add to my list. ^^

iPhone vs HTC Pure: considering switching?
July 6th, 2010
admin So for christmas i got an htc pure, one of the newest windows phones. Initially i didn’t want an iphone because i already had an ipod touch and didn’t want to work on software that was so familiar. Also, the rest of the mobile phone companies have had 3 years to compete with the iphone and i thought there had to be something better out there.
I like the htc pure, i just think the iphone still does more. The windows market place is new and a development in progress so it only has less than a fraction of the amount of apps in the app store. So how long until windows market place can compete with the app store? Although it is a windows phone and can download and install non-microsoft-published (.cab) applications from anywhere on the web.
Another reason i want to switch to the iphone is the capacitive highly sensitive touch screen. I’m not impressed with the resistive screen keyboard on my htc pure at all. Its just so small and so hard to type out sentences without spelling errors.
Also i’m not impressed with the media quality. Playing mp3s are ok, but going online and looking at youtube videos (which must be done through the browser) proved the video quality to be terrible.
Also i just don’t find my self needing the windows mobile essentials which it has over the iphone, like multi-tasking.. microsoft office.. ect.
I’m also unhappy with the battery life on my htc pure. I feel like i can’t waste any time on the internet browser, to save the battery. The iPhone 3GS claims to have longer battery life so theres another reason to switch.
The only pro i see from keeping the htc pure is the 5.0mp camera. The still pictures have excellent quality.
Basically the only con i see from switching is the camera.
But some how i feel like the ‘iPhone being the greatest smartphone’ is from its sales statistics which is from its insane amount of marketing. But looking at my ipod touch, the browser, the apps, the features im looking for are overkill compared to my htc pure.
So do you think i should switch to the iPhone from my windows phone?
Dell Studio XPS 8100 vs. Dell Studio 9000?
July 5th, 2010
admin I am looking into buying a new desktop computer. I currently own a laptop but the screen was too small and dim so I bought a separate/larger screen. I have my choices down to two units. The Dell Studio XPS 8100 and the Dell Studio 9000. After viewing the comparison link below, can I have your opinion on which one is the better deal for me? $900 is pushing my budget, I wish to keep it under $700 if possible but heres what I’d use it for.
I do freelance desktop publishing. Very basic. I work with Adobe illustrator and InDesign mainly. I have Photoshop too. I will also plan to install other basic Microsoft office utilities. Like word and excel. Chat clients like trillion and yahoo messenger, possibly firefox because I’m not a huge fan of IE. iTunes and of course your basic printer. I keep my computers relatively clean and maintained. No major gaming but good graphics are best with my design major. Although, I deal with more 2D images like flyers and newsletters and I’m working towards working with the design of young childrens work books. Simple vector graphics, nothing drawn. I prefer windows 7, not vista. The last thing I wonder though, my cable modem is located on another wall in my office, acrossed the room from my desk. Laptop has wireless so it works fine but wondering if one of these computers are able to work in the same way or if ill have to rewire my office inorder to get internet on my pc? unless I can possibly add in a wireless card for it.
Knowing this, what would you say would be the best buy for me?

Disk space vs RAM?
July 4th, 2010
admin Computer always says “Low disk space”. I have cleared out as much as I can from the H and C drives. Microsoft office takes up alot. I have 512 MB of Ram. How do I increase or buy more disk space and RAM? Also, dvd rom no longer works. Any solutions? I have the HP pavilion a320n. Can’t use software because it hasn’t worked in a long time.
Alienware M17x VS Macbook Pro?
July 3rd, 2010
admin How do the two compare? Lets say a $3000 M17x vs $3000 Macbook Pro
First, i’d like to talk about my experience with the M17x.
PROS
-Fans. The fans are extremely quiet. You can rarely hear the fan even when it is dead silent. Also, the air circulation is great because the whole bottom of the laptop is basically vents. Also the fact that the laptop is made of metal which is a great heat conductor.
CONS
-Big and Heavy. I don’t really mind because its my desktop replacement but moving it around the house is a pain.
-MANY small problems. Double-Beeps at BIOS with false error, Touch Sense media buttons and lighting often malfunction, etc
-Wrist rest. There is a wrist rest in the middle of the laptop except the fact that the keyboard is positioned on the left side because of the numpad. So my right hand benefits from the wrist rest while my left hand rests on a point surface.
-Support sucks. When I try online technical support it says my computer isn’t supported. I just got it like 2 months ago.
Now some information about the uses of my laptop
Some Information
-Don’t play games
-MAINLY used for Homework (Microsoft Office), Surfing Web (Firefox) and Media (WMP/VLC)
-Dont really care that Macs don’t get virus cause I rarely get any virus on a PC.
Questions
-How do they compare?
-How is the Macbook Pro compared to my experience with the M17x?
-Will Microsoft Word work on Mac? What about Adobe products? Firefox?
-How does the touchpad work? I notice theres no buttons so im guessing that you have to lift your finger and tap the touchpad to make a click? I dislike that because I think that involves more movement compared to having you finger on a button and pushing it down to make a click.
-The bottom of the Mac is a flat surface. How good is the air circulation?
-What would be the main differences when switching from Windows 7 to Mac OS (Whichever is best)
Any1 work in an office job? Be kind please!?
July 3rd, 2010
admin I am an amateur musician but I need a day job. I am ok typer and am studying Microsoft Office Suite.
Does anyone here have an office job? What’s it like? Are they that boring?
Is there a difference in working an office job for like the government at a state college vs. a private office job? The only thing I saw was gov jobs start at 23.5g after passing a tet and private office jobs seem to start t 30g.
Also I was a slacker, go to bed late, and wear t-shirts, how do I get used to working lifestyle. I am so broke to buy office clothing but got to do something. Can’t be slacker forever. I am 30.
Thanks.
MS Office 2002 vs. MS Office 2003?
July 2nd, 2010
admin Hi All,
I have to make a valid reason for my work, for why I need Microsoft Office 2003.
My simple reason is, it has more functions. But IT want specifics, are you able to tell me why version 2003 is better than version 2002 and what new functions you find make a big difference for you?
Our office wont upgrade to 2007 (just yet) – our IT department is a bit behind in the times.
What is the benefit of using Linux vs. Microsoft if you are just a regular office person?
July 1st, 2010
admin Linux is often advertised as this grandiose OS, but at the end of the day it outputs the same product as Microsoft and or Macs. What makes Linux unique besides not crashing as often as Microsoft or running applications very fast? I work in a office and use a lot of application for which there is no Linux version (Linux might have some alternatives but are too hard on the regular user) so what is the appeal to use a Linux system if I have to tweaked the OS every time I want it to do something that under Windows it would done by a third party. What about the video games, most video games I play don’t come in Linux nor Machintosh just PC, and it would seem at times that software vendors or hardware companies are only concerned with the PC market and don’t distribute anything else to Open source projects such as Linux. What would be reason to abandon Microsoft?
